This slate and dark brown moss is commonly found growing in small clumps In marshes.
It is short, growing up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. It forms in small clumps, and is overwhelmingly light.
When mature, emerald kidney-shaped capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early summer to release thousands of spores.

It is bio-luminescent.
It is almost impossible to grow indoors.
It is suitable for making paper
