Bloodfruit Tree

This massive fruit tree grows up to 55 feet (16.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 73 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, ridged, burgundy bark, and inside, the very hard wood is pale brown-grey.

The small bunches of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of giant, very thick leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either silver or grey, with white edges.

In early spring, it produces bunches of tiny, red blossoms with circular shaped petals. They are hardy and have a powerful scent that smells like blood.

In late autumn it produces , spherical fruit. The hairy brilliant green skin is stretchy and inedible, and the soft magenta flesh is bland and oily. The cream seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.
