Copperberry

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 14 feet (4.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 19 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, straight trunk covered in thick, waxy, light gray bark, and inside, the dense wood is brown.

The sparse amount of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with small bunches of giant, sickle shaped leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of copper that gradient shifts to violet at the top.

In early spring, it produces several small, beige blossoms with circular petals. They are sturdy and have a powerful scent that smells like cheap aftershave.

In late autumn it produces , circular fruit. The rough orange skin is peel-able and edible when roasted; it is salty, and the soft peach flesh is spicy and savoury and very dry. The blood red seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.
