This big creeper is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 440 feet (134.1 meters) and growing as high as 101 feet (30.8 meters). It prefers to grow on specific trees.

It takes 12 months for the burgundy stems to mature, by which point they can reach a diameter of 1.3 feet (38 cm) and are smooth and slick.

The slender, pointed, rough leaves reach up to 11 inches (28 cm) in length. They are copper with hazel tips, and have smooth edges.
