Bloodstone Trumpet

This large leaf succulent grows up to 73 feet (22.3 meters) tall. The wide stem is red, and is covered in hundreds of flexible washed-out blue spines. The pointed leaves are brown and orange. Small amounts of them grow on thick, gray-green branches that trail down towards the ground. The leaves are robust, but detach easily.

It is steady-growing, taking 3 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with petals that are blood red at the sides and crimson at the center, grow at the top, reappearing once every 7 years. The flower head is shaped like a trumpet made up of 7 widely spaced, round-tipped petals. It has a soft scent that smells like apple.

The leaf succulent's skin is very thick, the azure flesh is smooth, and the blood red sap is thin.
