Golden Spine Applesucculent
Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This average-sized caudiciform grows up to 19 feet (5.8 meters) tall. The pleated stem is peach or olive, and is dotted with small hazel spines. It has a straight, stocky, bold orange trunk atop a stocky block of wrinkled, exposed roots. The branches are stumpy and emerald and are very long and thin.
The tattered-edged, thick leaves are found in bright green and black varieties. They are durable, and do not detach easily.
It is very slow growing, taking 47 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with solid gold petals and a violet central disk grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 20 curved petals. It has a powerful scent that smells like apple.
The caudiciform's skin is rock-hard, the lime flesh is rough, and the olive sap is thin.
