Aquamarineberry

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 18 feet (5.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 28 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, straight trunk covered in rough, brown-green speckled bark, and inside, the very hard wood is white with black speckles.

The excessive amount of branches are very long and thin and are covered with handfuls of small, sickle shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are generally aquamarine.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of small, amber blossoms with pleated petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a faint scent that smells like pine needles.

In early winter it produces tiny, spherical fruit. The sticky brilliant red skin is thick and inedible, and the crunchy aquamarine flesh is salty and sticky. The light brown seed is very large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.

It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
Once on fire, it burns very quickly.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
