Black Moss

This black and caramel moss is commonly found growing in large clumps On rotten logs.
It is average-sized, growing up to 5 inches (13 cm) tall. It forms in small clumps, and is overwhelmingly flexible; it can easily endure flooding and draughts.
When mature, emerald kidney-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late summer to release thousands of spores; it does not cause many allergic reactions.
