Lilac

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This modest-sized tree grows up to 15 meters (49.2 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 78 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, wonky trunk covered in very thick, waxy, gray bark, and inside, the flexible wood is black with white speckles.

The branches are short stubs and are covered with large amounts of covered in fine hairs, small, wispy leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are either lilac, or blood red with violet streaks.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of small, peach blossoms with perforated petals. They are hardy and have a mildly strong scent that smells like rotten meat.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, hazel berries.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for use as a construction material
