Aquamarine Fruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 17 feet (5.2 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 18 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in delicate, smooth, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the very hard wood is copper-coloured.

The numerous branches are short stubs and are covered with large amounts of huge, spear shaped leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are moss green with faded yellow tips.

In early spring, it produces lots of tiny, aquamarine blossoms with 3 pointed petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are hardy and have an overpowering scent that smells like fruity.

In late summer it produces tiny, fan-like fruit. The fuzzy magenta skin is delicate and inedible, and the crunchy blood red flesh is salty and very juicy. The hazel seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.

It is difficult to cut through.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
