Blueberry

This small fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 43 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a stocky, twisting trunk covered in rough, dark brown bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is mahogany-coloured.

The excessive amount of branches are short stubs and are covered with large amounts of huge, very thin leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are blue and cyan.

In early spring, it produces clusters of small, bright yellow blossoms with long, tapering petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have a delicate scent that smells like faeces.

In early autumn it produces large, fan-like fruit. The smooth black skin is stretchy and sweet and salty, and the very soft gold flesh is overwhelmingly spicy and sticky. The black seed is large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
