Coniapple

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 30 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a stocky, straight trunk covered in fine, rough, burgundy bark, and inside, the very hard wood is pale yellow.

The sparse patches of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with small amounts of small, wispy leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in magenta, orange and white varieties.

In early spring, it produces lots of giant, peach blossoms with 9 teardrop-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have a faint scent that smells like vanilla.

In mid-autumn it produces , oblong fruit. The rubbery white skin is thin and edible when boiled; it is savoury, and the soft cream flesh is spicy and very juicy. The drab yellow seeds are tiny and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.
