Copperberry

This small fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 37 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, slanted trunk covered in fine, wrinkled, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the very hard wood is mahogany-coloured.

The branches trail down across the ground and are covered with copious amounts of tiny, 4 pointed leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in vivid green and copper varieties.

In early spring, it produces many small, lilac blossoms with needle-like petals. They are very delicate and have a delicate scent that smells like pineapple.

In early winter it produces tiny, finger-like fruit. The leathery olive skin is stretchy and salty and sour, and the soft light brown flesh is salty and syrupy. The blood red seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
