Clinging Citrus

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 14 feet (4.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 69 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, angular trunk covered in delicate, rough, dark brown bark, and inside, the flexible wood is brown.

The branches are short stubs and are covered with small amounts of small, pleated leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are solid slate with bright orange streaks.

In early spring, it produces several large, lime blossoms with sickle shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a delicate scent that smells like lemon.

In mid-summer it produces tiny, circular fruit. The sticky light yellow skin is delicate and inedible, and the slightly crunchy cream flesh is sour and savoury and very juicy. The blood red seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
