Clinging Mahogany Pineapple Bush

This large shrub grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for around 50 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several flexible, straight stems covered in delicate, cracked, silver bark, and the wood inside is mahogany-coloured.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright with thousands of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of miniature, thin, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are azure at the bottom and bright orange with crimson splotches at the top, strong and sticky.

In late summer it produces clusters of medium-sized, pink flowers with 9 teardrop-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like pineapple.
