Crimson Spineleaf

Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)

This large leaf succulent grows up to 94 feet (28.7 meters) tall. The spear shaped stem is moss green, and is covered in brittle lime spines. The irregular-edged, slender, pointed leaves are solid crimson or red, with gold splotches. Copious amounts of them grow from the base in alternating layers of 3, then 6, then 9, and so on. The leaves are hardy, and are very difficult to pull away.

It is very fast growing, taking 4 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with petals that are aquamarine at the sides and copper at the center, grow at the top, reappearing after 9 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of 6 petals in raised layers. It has a delicate scent that smells like vomit.

The leaf succulent's skin is nearly impenetrable, the aquamarine flesh is smooth, and the hazel sap is thin.

It spreads easily and often blanket large areas.
It can survive a very long time without water.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
