Clinging Cypress

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 141 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many narrow, angular stems covered in paper-thin, rough, dark green bark, and the wood inside is brown.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright with dozens of twigs that and are covered with handfuls of giant, stiff, pointed, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are dark brown and cyan, hardy and covered in fine hairs.

It produces handfuls of tiny, red flowers with sickle shaped petals. They are sturdy and have the faintest scent that smells like new carpet. In midwinter it forms smallbrown, winged seeds that float and land far away.
