This cyan moss is commonly found growing in giant clumps In bogs, In rainy mountain ranges, and In damp forests.
It is modest-sized, growing up to 4 inches (10 cm) tall. It forms in large clumps, and is slightly flimsy.
When mature, emerald heart-shaped capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late summer to release thousands of spores.

It spreads easily and often blanket large areas.
It is very rare outside of a particular area.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
