Caramel

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows, flowers and dies within one year)

This small fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 84 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, wonky trunk covered in wrinkled, dark gray bark, and inside, the very light wood is pale yellow.

The small handful of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with large amounts of giant, very thin leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid amber or brown, with olive patches.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of large, pastel red blossoms with many layers of petals. They fall easily and have a weak scent that smells like cotton.

In early summer it produces small, broad, flat fruit. The fuzzy pastel red skin is peel-able and inedible, and the very soft red flesh is spicy and sour and syrupy. The caramel seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
