Purpleleaf Tree

This short tree grows up to 5 meters (16.4 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 79 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, wavy trunk covered in delicate, rough, dark brown bark, and inside, the flexible wood is dark brown.

The small handful of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with very large amounts of sticky, huge, long, tapering leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are solid pastel purple with brown patches.

In late summer it forms large, hazel seed pods.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.
