Burgundyfern

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 95 years. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has numerous stocky, straight stems covered in paper-thin, cracked, burgundy bark, and the wood inside is brown.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright that and are covered with small bunches of tiny, needle-like, leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are slate on the edges and red at the center, flexible and soft.

It produces lots of medium-sized, sky blue flowers with slender, pointed petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a fairly strong scent that smells like rainy days. In late summer it forms largebeige, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

It releases hallucinogenic smoke when burned.
It spreads easily and often blanket large areas.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
