Crimson Moss

This hazel or crimson moss is commonly found growing in medium-sized clumps On rotten logs, In bogs, and On trees.
It is modest-sized, growing up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. It forms in thin clumps, and is very rigid.
When mature, emerald circular capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-summer to release thousands of spores.
