Aqua Spice Tree

This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 39 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, straight trunk covered in fine, knobbly, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the very light wood is white.

The branches are very long and thin and are covered with large amounts of large, needle-like leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of light grey that gradient shifts to purple at the top.

In early spring, it produces dozens of tiny, grey blossoms with broad, flat petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like a man.

In early winter it produces , oval fruit. The clammy caramel skin is peel-able and bitter and salty, and the very soft azure flesh is spicy and sticky. The bronze seeds are tiny and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
