Copperleaf

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 65 years. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous stocky, curved stems covered in smooth, copper-coloured bark, and the wood inside is brown.

The branches are short stubs with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of huge, circular, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are amber at the bottom and white with dark red patches at the top, durable and rough.

It produces balls of medium-sized, magenta flowers with finger-like petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are very delicate and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like new books. In mid-summer it forms giantdark grey seed pods.
