Bronzeberry

This average-sized shrub grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall and lives for around 25 years. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many sturdy, straight stems covered in fine, cracked, burgundy and brown bark, and the wood inside is dark brown.

The branches are very short, thin and wispy with thousands of twigs that and are covered with very large amounts of large, finger-like, leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are generally yellow, pliable and rough.

In mid-spring it produces many large, cream blossoms with finger-like petals. They fall easily and have a soft scent that smells like a damp log.

In midwinter small stiff, pointed fruits ripen. The soft bronze skin is stretchy and inedible, and the very soft white flesh is sweet and salty and powdery. The gold seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.
