Copperbrush

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 184 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has many knobbly, slanted stems covered in hard, knobbly, brown bark, and the wood inside is copper-coloured.

The branches are short stubs with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with small bunches of small, wispy, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid olive or silver, with dark brown dots, rigid and smooth.

In late spring it produces several small, hazel flowers with circular petals. They are sturdy and have a faint scent that smells like lemon.
