Azureberry

This big fruit tree grows up to 24 feet (7.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 37 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, slanted trunk covered in delicate, silky, dark brown bark, and inside, the light wood is mahogany-coloured.

The tangled mess of branches are short stubs and are covered with large amounts of large, stiff, pointed leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are either azure, or pale purple with light yellow streaks.

In early spring, it produces lots of medium-sized, olive blossoms with stiff, pointed petals. They are hardy and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like garlic.

In late autumn it produces , needle-like fruit. The leathery bronze skin is peel-able and inedible, and the slightly crunchy pale purple flesh is bitter and savoury and oily. The red seed is large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.
