Brown Moss

This brown moss is commonly found blanketing small areas In moorlands.
It is large, growing up to 8 inches (20 cm) tall. It forms in large clumps and they are slow to spread and grow, and is overwhelmingly rigid.
When mature, emerald cylindrical capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-autumn to release thousands of spores; it can cause allergic reactions.
