Waterleaf

This giant flower grows up to 13.1 feet (4.0 meters) tall. Its green stem is thin and splits into dozens of branching stems at the top, and the tiny, gray leaves are needle-like with jagged edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

Each stem splits 4 to 6 times; a single giant flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 59 cm (23.2 inches) wide, with alternating petals of peach and crimson, with a vivid blue central disk. The flower head is shaped like a star made up of several tightly layered, narrow petals. They are sturdy.

It has a weak scent that smells like alcohol, and it has excessive amounts of pollen, but it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also particularly attractive to butterflies.
