Copperbark
Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)This small tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 146 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a slender, twisting trunk covered in delicate, waxy, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the hard wood is yellow.
The abundance of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with small bunches of clammy, large, thick leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are solid drab orange with light grey lines.
In early spring, it produces handfuls of small, yellow blossoms with crescent-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have a weak scent that smells like mint.
In late summer it forms medium-sized, silver, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.
The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.
The pollen is very toxic to people but not to certain animals.
