Crimson Moss

This pink-red moss is commonly found blanketing large areas In damp forests.
It is modest-sized, growing up to 5 inches (13 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches, and is slightly rigid; it dislikes being stepped on.
When mature, emerald crescent-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-autumn to release thousands of spores; it does not cause many allergic reactions.
