Azureberry

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short caudiciform grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall. The sickle shaped stem is slate, and is dotted with small lime spines. It has a straight, thick, lime trunk atop a very thick block of rough, exposed roots. The branches are narrow and lime green and are short and slender.

The irregular-edged, very narrow and elongated leaves are washed-out green and light red. They are resilient, but take some effort to detach.

It is steady-growing, taking 14 months to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with petals that are azure at the sides and silver at the center grow at the top, reappearing once every 2 years. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 20 petals. It has the faintest scent that smells like petrol.

The caudiciform's skin is rock-hard, the vivid blue flesh is smooth, and the turquoise sap is thin.

It is suitable for making paper
It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
