Copperleaf

This short tree grows up to 4 meters (13.1 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 108 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a branched, crooked trunk covered in paper-thin, waxy, dark green bark, and inside, the very dense wood is copper-coloured.

The tangled mess of branches are long and thin and are covered with sparse amounts of sticky, giant, sickle shaped leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are either blood red, or light grey with slate splotches.

In late summer it forms small, lilac aril (seeds with fleshy covers).

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
