Caramel Fruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This short fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 61 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, wonky trunk covered in thick, wrinkled, brown and grey bark, and inside, the light wood is brown.

The numerous branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with very large amounts of tiny, spear shaped leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are generally caramel.

In early spring, it produces lots of small, peach blossoms with sickle shaped petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have an intensely strong scent that smells like pepper.

In mid-autumn it produces small, cuboid fruit. The fuzzy yellow skin is thick and inedible, and the crunchy cream flesh is spicy and oily. The caramel seed is small and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
