Copperbell

This small cactus grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall. It splits at the base to form 6 stiff, pointed stems. Each stem is copper, and is covered in sharp spines. The mushroom-shaped body is sky blue, and is covered in brittle light grey spines.

It is slow growing, taking 40 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with vivid purple petals on the lower layer and pink petals decorated with light brown dots on the inner layer. The central disk is muted yellow, grow at the top, reappearing after 8 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a dish made up of handfuls of widely spaced, narrow petals. It has a powerful scent that smells like faeces.

The cactus's skin is thick, the dull orange flesh is sticky, and the pale green sap is thin.
