Bronzeleaf

This giant shrub grows up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 160 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has many wide, straight stems covered in knobbly, brown and grey bark, and the wood inside is yellow-brown.

The branches trail down across the ground with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with sparse amounts of giant, circular, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are found in amber and bronze varieties, resilient and crispy.

In early spring it produces thick bunches of giant, olive blossoms with pleated petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a mildly strong scent that smells like new books.

In early autumn long, curved fruits ripen. The leathery magenta skin is tough and inedible, and the very soft green flesh is spicy and sour and powdery. The gold seeds are large and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.
