Thornwood

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This enormous tree grows up to 98 meters (321.5 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 419 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, straight trunk covered in smooth, brown-green bark, and inside, the soft wood is burgundy-brown.

The tangled mess of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with large amounts of rough, giant, stiff, pointed leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are orange-yellow with ashy yellow tips.

In late summer it forms small, crimson, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.

It is suitable for making strong rope
