Clinging Goldfruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This small fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 26 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, straight trunk covered in thin, wrinkled, brown and grey bark, and inside, the hard wood is brown.

The branches trail down to the ground and are covered with thick bunches of small, slender, pointed leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are bronze and crimson.

In early spring, it produces thousands of small, gold blossoms with triangular shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a strong scent that smells like burning wood.

In early winter it produces , wide fruit. The rough black skin is delicate and edible when boiled; it is very salty, and the soft white flesh is bland and very dry. The blood red seeds are small and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It makes a distinctive sound when the wind blows through it.
