Magenta Moonflower

This small caudiciform grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall. The perforated stem is orange, and is dotted with small white spines. The crooked, silver trunk can grow to as much as 2 feet (61.0 cm) in diameter in the middle. Its orange-yellow branches are long and slender and start growing three quarters of the way up the stem.

The handfuls of rounded-edged, pleated leaves are magenta on the edges and orange at the center. They are delicate, but do not detach easily.

It is fast growing, taking 4 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with alternating petals of blue and blood red, with a blood red central disk, grow at the top, reappearing after 5 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 52 petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like musk.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the vivid green flesh is slimy, and the sky blue sap is thin and has hallucinogenic properties.
