Bronzefern

Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)

This short leaf succulent grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall. The wispy stem is hazel and emerald, and is covered in copious amounts of flexible bronze spines. The pebble-like leaves are vivid green with ashy yellow tips. Large amounts of them grow on wide, silver branches that are tall, rigid and upright. The leaves are flimsy, but detach easily.

It is slow growing, taking 6 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with petals that are generally brown; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a trumpet made up of 16 widely spaced, narrow petals. It has a mildly strong scent that smells like lemon.

The leaf succulent's skin is nearly impenetrable, the white flesh is soft, and the light grey sap is thin.

It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
