Crimson Moss

This pink-red moss is commonly found growing in medium-sized clumps In marshes, and On rotten logs.
It is small, growing up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. It forms in large clumps, and is very resilient.
When mature, emerald oblong capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-autumn to release dozens of spores; it can cause severe allergic reactions.
