Mahogany

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 35 years. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has several long and flexible, straight stems covered in fine, wrinkled, brown and grey bark, and the wood inside is mahogany-coloured.

The branches trail down to the ground that and are covered with copious amounts of tiny, very narrow and elongated, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are solid green or lilac, with vibrant orange edges, resistant and covered in fine hairs.

It produces dozens of tiny, sky blue flowers with 8 crescent-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like new books. In mid-summer it forms largeturquoise aril (seeds with fleshy covers).
