Burgundyvine

This short tree grows up to 5 meters (16.4 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 179 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, wonky trunk covered in thin, smooth, brown bark, and inside, the hard wood is burgundy.

The branches are short, thin and wispy and are covered with handfuls of clammy, small, perforated leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are light brown on the edges and lilac at the center.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, red, tough-shelled seeds.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.
