Vinebark

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 26 years. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has several stocky, straight stems covered in very thick, silky, light brown bark, and the wood inside is yellow.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright with thousands of twigs that and are covered with handfuls of small, heart-shaped, leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are light grey and grey, durable and crispy.

In mid-spring it produces a thick sheet of tiny, cyan blossoms with long, narrow petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like chocolate.

In late autumn small long, curved fruits ripen. The soft silver skin is stretchy and inedible, and the crunchy sky blue flesh is bitter and salty and juicy. The red seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
