Crimson Succulent

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This short cactus grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall. It splits randomly along the body to form 4 sickle shaped stems. Each stem is yellow-green, and is covered in brittle crimson spines.

It is steady-growing, taking 11 months to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with peach petals and a yellow center grow at the top, reappearing once every 5 years. The flower head is shaped like a dish made up of 18 raised, round-tipped petals. It has a mildly strong scent that smells like freshly baked bread.

The cactus's skin is tough, the caramel flesh is sticky, and the ashy purple sap is thin and can cause blindness if consumed.
