Blackberry

This massive shrub grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall and lives for around 69 years. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many stocky, angular stems covered in very thick, smooth, black bark, and the wood inside is black with white speckles.

The branches are short and thin with dozens of twigs that and are covered with small amounts of large, very thin, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are found in washed-out red, pink and orange varieties, delicate and covered in fine hairs.

In mid-summer it produces thick bunches of medium-sized, red blossoms with needle-like petals. They are sturdy and have an intense scent that smells like freshly baked bread.

In early autumn tiny wide fruits ripen. The fuzzy violet skin is stretchy and edible when boiled; it is sweet and spicy, and the slightly crunchy beige flesh is sweet and juicy. The lime seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.
