Graystem

This small flower grows up to 5 inches (13 cm) tall. Its gray stems grow in bunches of 5 and are thick and straight, and the small, lime green leaves are circular with ripped edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

A single large flower sits at the end of the stem. The flowers are 1 cm (0.4 inches) wide, with petals that are generally blood red; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour. The flower head is largely flat with 56 widely spaced narrow petals. They detach easily.

It has a delicate scent that smells like vanilla, and it has a modest amount of pollen. It is pollinated by the wind.
