Violetfruit Tree

This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 60 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, twisting trunk covered in ridged, burgundy bark, and inside, the very hard wood is pale brown.

The branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with sparse amounts of tiny, perforated leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are violet on the sides and cream at the center.

In early spring, it produces dozens of giant, yellow blossoms with wide petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are very delicate and have a weak scent that smells like apple.

In early autumn it produces , circular fruit. The fuzzy brown skin is stretchy and inedible, and the crunchy violet flesh is spicy and salty and oily. The slate seed is small and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
