Bloodvine

This enormous leaf succulent grows up to 108 feet (32.9 meters) tall. The finger-like stem is beige or light grey, and is covered in lots of rigid blood red spines. The lumpy leaves are found in brown, pale yellow and slate varieties. Thick bunches of them grow on slender, yellow branches that are short stubs. The leaves are flimsy, but do not detach easily.

It is slow growing, taking 12 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with petals that are pink in the center, vivid red in the middle and copper at the edges, grow at the top, reappearing once every 3 years. The flower head is largely flat with 53 raised round-tipped petals. It has a scent that varies in strength that smells like grass cuttings.

The leaf succulent's skin is extremely thick, the gold flesh is sticky, and the green sap is thin.
