Clinging Cherry Tree

This giant fruit tree grows up to 71 feet (21.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 37 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in very thick, ridged, light brown bark, and inside, the soft wood is mahogany-coloured.

The thick clumps of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with sparse amounts of giant, sickle shaped leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are sky blue on the edges and white at the center.

In early spring, it produces many large, pink blossoms with long, narrow petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a weak scent that smells like cherry.

In early winter it produces small, spherical fruit. The waxy azure skin is tough and inedible, and the crunchy cream flesh is slightly bitter and oily. The blood red seed is small and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.
